Leslie Lee “Market Day” Teapot Auction Dec 4-21

For Auction: Leslie Lee 1990 teapot

Because Dennis Meiners and Leslie Lee have been making and selling their fine art for over forty years it is inevitable that some of that art comes up for resale. Usually, when art re-sells the maker is out of the loop and receives nothing for the gain in value the piece may command. In this case, because the owners have chosen to sell through the maker, the value is shared. Here is an opportunity bid on Leslie’s art and enjoy the action of a live auction.

How to BID

Go to www.32auctions.com/LeslieLeeTeapot. Auction starts at 10am Dec 4 and ends 5pm PST Dec 21. It’s not neccessary to try to be the last bidder in the last second, as bidding will continue in 3 minute increments if there are bids still coming in. (max 30 min. extension). If you prefer you can enter a Proxy Bid where you place a bid for the maximum amount you are willing to spend, then let the system bid for you up to that amount. You can always jump back in if someone outbids you. Or you may be the winner without ever reaching your maximum.

If a collector were interested Leslie also has a complete step-by-step slide presentation of making a Market Day teapot.  The one on auction here was the second; there are only two of this design.

“Market Day”, which sold for $850 in 1990, is white stoneware with clear glaze over polychrome under-glazes. Metallic gold overglaze details. Chain on handbag is real. Sausages falling from bag are strung on wire and are flexible. 10 inches high. 10 inches at widest points. Although this “teapot” has a handle, lid (items in the bag) and spout (the elbow) is is not intended for functional use.
