I cannot escape the news, the traffic, the “arsenic hour” before dinner, the angst of my grandson’s preschool frustrations.
From a series started in 2014 where paintings began with a random application of abstract color. Within the abstraction I tease out figurative elements that are totally unrelated but eventually develop into unexpected narratives. This way of working allows me to think less about subject and meaning and more about color, shape and values – leaving the interpretation to the viewer.
