I have always loved driving through a mountain forest as the light is beginning to fade. The headlights pick up the white tips of the poles which guide the snowplows in winter and they dance like little fairy lights leading the way. We were driving home from Crater Lake when I clicked in my mind this image of the rich pinks of the sky peeping through the darkening trees. I managed to hold it until we got home where I could do a quick sketch and some color notations; the painting was made from memory.
