From a series started in 2014  where paintings began with a random application of abstract color.  The top detail on the left shows the beginning “smoosh” for this painting. Within the abstraction I  tease out figurative elements that are totally unrelated but eventually develop into unexpected narratives. (WATCH THE VIDEO) This way of working allows me to think less about subject and meaning and more about color, shape and values – leaving the interpretation to the viewer.
