A friend came in from her garden with this quince on the palm of her hand to show us. We all oohed and aah-ed at it’s sensuality and I begged to take it home to paint.  I had some painting students at the time and I had assigned them the task of painting in the style of a painter they admired. I chose to emulate Georgia O’Keefe and enlarged the quince to a size that commanded the attention I felt it deserved.
