From a series started in 2014 where paintings began with a random application of abstract color.  The top detail on the left shows the beginning “smoosh” for this painting. Within the abstraction I tease out figurative elements that are totally unrelated but eventually develop into unexpected narratives – in this case my reaction to the 2016 Presidential campaign.  This way of working allows me to think less about subject and meaning and more about color, shape and values – leaving the interpretation to the viewer.
